Free Traffic Secret for Adult Sites
I’ve been a bit reluctant to discuss one of my secret weapons Squidoo. But here it goes…
I have made some serious cash through affiliate programs using Squidoo. Squidoo was started and is run by Seth Godin, marketing genius, author and business man. Squidoo was created to take advantage of Web 2.0 community mentality and provide a set of growing tools to allow users to create “lenses” on their topic of choice. Using Squidoo is completely free and it has a revenue sharing element that gives users a bit of cash for their work. I won’t dig into the details of the revenue sharing aspect because it generally provides small amounts of money, even for popular lenses.
Squidoo is loved by the search engines. Google currently has it ranked as a PR 7 site and lenses usually get quick indexing from the big engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Because Squidoo carries a high relevance score with the search engines the Lenes get great placement in the search results- usually on the 1st page! I’ve had Lenses hit the top 3 of all major search engines within 24 hours of creating the lens! You can’t buy these results at any price!
A few cautions- What you post at Squidoo needs to be relevant, unique and if it smells like spam it will get detected by the filters at Squidoo and blocked. You can even get your account dumped if you simply trying to spam out the system. Although the filter details are not published there are a few guidelines:
- Use at least 4 modules- any less will prevent you from publishing or will trigger the spam Lens filters.
- Don’t keyword stuff. Using the same word(s) over and over may raise the Spam flag.
- Too many outbound links will interest the filters.
- There are a few specific words that if even used once will set off the filters.
- Create an intro and add a picture or suspicion may be triggered.
I won’t get into specifics of what I include in successful Lenses but it always comes down to content, uniqueness and having something people want. Adult material easily fits into all of these categories. The fact that the spam filtering features of Squidoo are so strong only strengthens my position on the site. My Lenses stand out much better with all of the junk filtered out and those not willing to put a bit of time into it going elsewhere. At any given time I own 3-4 of the top 10 adult lenses and my lens collection sees on average at least 50,000 visitors a week.
Did I mention Squidoo is free?
